Nervous Patients and IV Sedation

Does the thought of having your teeth cleaned make your entire body tense with fear? Would you rather endure the agony of a toothache than step foot in a dentist's office? You're not alone. A lot of people are so phobic about going to the dentist that they prefer not to have any treatment.

For people who avoid dentists like the plague, intravenous sedation may take away some of their anxiety. Sedation can be used for everything from invasive procedures to a simple tooth cleaning.

Here at Claremont Dental we provide an intravenous sedation service where patients can be treated comfortably in the dental chair.

Most people find that sedation is a pleasant and acceptable way of receiving dental treatment. The sedation agent is administered either through an injection in the back of the hand or the front of the elbow. Once you feel drowsy and sufficiently relaxed, local anesthetic will be administered to numb your mouth and the dental work will commence.
